Out with the old and in the new!

ReNEW Yourself with Springtime Cleansing and Purging!

With the arrival of Spring comes a sense of renewal. Thinking of renewal, a lot of factors come to mind. Before the new can replace the old, there has to be a cleansing and purging. This can take the form of a mental-emotional cleanse as well as a physical cleanse. We might all be familiar with the word ‘detox’ which generally refers to a physical detoxification of the body.

This can entail elimination diets, juice cleanses, short water fasts etc. Your organs of elimination include your liver, the main organ of detoxification. Other organs we do not normally associate with detoxification include your kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, lungs and skin.

We live in a toxic society and that is unavoidable. We can take steps to reduce our toxic burden but it is impossible to eliminate toxins entirely. The foods we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink, the body products that we use, the various materials we come into contact with everyday all contribute to our toxicity levels.

Diet properly

A proper diet and lifestyle will certainly help reduce that toxic load as well as support our organs of elimination.

Detoxification does not just pertain to our physical bodies but also our mental emotional states. We enter toxic emotional states especially when we fill ourselves with hatred, anger and resentment.

Maintaining long periods of sadness and depression can also contribute to toxic emotional states. With new research showing how closely knit the digestive tract is with our brains, it is easy to see how a toxic physical body can affect our mental emotional states and vice versa. Mental-emotional cleanses can take the form of mindfulness-based practices eg: self-awareness training, meditative practices.er toxic emotional states especially when we fill ourselves with hatred, anger and resentment.
